Veterinary Science
- Introduction to the Faculty:
The Faculty of Veterinary Science is an academic unit of Bamyan University. It was established with two departments (Clinical and Para-clinical) based on Resolution No. (9) dated 25/1/1446 AH of the High Council of the Ministry of Higher Education. Additionally, the faculty has several academic committees within its structure, aimed at improving and expanding its activities. These include the Committees of Quality Assurance, Curriculum Development, Research, Culture, Discipline, Examinations, Strategic Planning, Da'wah and Guidance, and E-learning. The research priorities of the faculty focus on various areas such as improving the quantity, quality, and safety of animal products; the relationship between agricultural and livestock production; infectious diseases; enhancing the safety and efficacy of animal feed; genetic improvement of domestic animals; preservation studies of local breeds; and the study of environmental medicinal and toxic plants used in animal nutrition and treatment. Currently, it has a total of 5 lecturers, one administrative staff member, one administrative manager, and 97 active students.
2. Introduction of the Dean:
Assistant Professor Nasratullah Hematzai, who holds a Bachelor's degree (DVM) in Veterinary Science from Nangarhar University (graduated in 1397 SH) and a Master's degree in Veterinary Clinical Medicine from the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Kabul University, currently serves as the Acting Dean and oversees all official duties of the faculty.
3. Departments:
Para-clinical Department: This department, which was originally established in 1394 SH under the Faculty of Agriculture, was merged into the Faculty of Veterinary Science according to Resolution No. (9) dated 25/1/1446 AH of the High Council of the Ministry of Higher Education. It currently has five active lecturers: one holds a Master’s degree, two are pursuing Master's studies domestically and abroad, and two are teaching at the Bachelor's (DVM) level.
Clinical Department: This department was approved simultaneously with the establishment of the faculty. However, it does not yet have any officially appointed lecturers in its structure.

5. Ongoing Academic Research or Projects:
Assistant Professor Nasratullah Hematzai: As part of his academic promotion from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor, he is currently working on the translation of the book “Bovine Surgery and Lameness” into the national Pashto language.
Teaching Assistant Mohammad Naseem Miakhil: For academic promotion from Teaching Assistant to Assistant Professor, the registration of his research topic titled “Isolation and Identification of E. coli and Salmonella in Commercial Yogurt Samples in Bamyan Center” is currently in progress.
Teaching Assistant Javid Maher: For academic promotion from Teaching Assistant to Assistant Professor, the registration of his research topic titled “Investigation of the Incidence of Ovine Filariasis in Slaughtered sheep in Bamyan Center” is currently in progress.
